He slapped hard. A red shadow, a temporary tattoo left on the pale skin of her buttocks. “…you fuckin plumb. Just stop yackin and get me the fuckin girl.” The humour had left the situation. Unless you were a passive onlooker and happened to find bungled kidnapping and attempted suicide funny. Which I did, and it was my giggling that gave me away.

A wooden crate is no substitute for holy ground.
